Hi!
The chances are that you are here because you are pregnant or have recently birthed your beautiful baby... and if so then a huge congratulations to you and welcome to my site!
My experience of birth has taught me an incredible amount. It taught me how one thing really can lead to another - the knock on effect of interventions can be difficult to backtrack from. It has taught me that preparation is key but most of all, trusting yourself is paramount. It takes some thought and introspection but women were created to do this, so we can and should be allowed to trust our instincts...to go deep within and believe in ourselves...something I forgot along the way. Something I know a doula could have helped remind me. But! A doula is not there to fix your past, or prescribe your future birth/s. A doula is there to support any of your wishes, to encourage you to find the strength you need and use the resources available to you. It's as simple (!) as that.
I have previously volunteered for Doula UK within Internal Communications for over two years and am the Birth Trauma Association administrator.
The undertaking of the courses and workshops, along with the people I have had the pleasure to meet and to learn from, truly did inspire me. The supporting of women in birth, postnatally and much further on is something that I have never let go of and I am happy to be here once again.
Whatever path you choose, whatever your plan and whatever your dreams for birth and motherhood - I wish you the very best,
Janine xx
